Overnight Rafting Trips in the Hudson River Gorge

Treat yourself to a night under the stars after a day on the river. All the fun of our Day Trips, but at the end of the day we’ll set up camp and cook while you fish, swim, play games, or relax by a roaring fire! And with our overnight night trips you can choose to enjoy both the hiking and rafting or just join us for some overnight rafting!

Our adventure begins with an 8:30 a.m. check in at SEE. Everyone will be issued a dry bag for personal belongings and we’ll be ready to go to the river. We provide all river gear, including a wetsuit and booties if needed and camping gear, tents, sleeping pads and a kitchen.

This adventure of course includes meals. In total 5 guide-cooked meals. Day one lunch, snacks and dinner by a fire. Day two starts with breakfast before we’re back on the river for lunch and a substantial après snack.

The stretch of river we explore is the Hudson River Gorge which consists of just over 16 miles on the river. The river day starts on a three mile stretch of the Indian River before we get to the Hudson, we raft for about half a day through class II & III whitewater, flat water and riffles and a swim hole. We will stop along the way to check out a small cave on rivers edge, a rock jump, and a waterfall. This morning will be a great mix of exciting and relaxing times.

We’ll pull into camp and enjoy a riverside picnic, set up tents, kitchen and build a campfire. This is a time for finding your own peace of nature, swim in the Hudson River’s clear pools and eddies, play a game on the beach, explore the woods, help gather dead and down firewood, or just relax by the fire for the whole afternoon. Snacks and dinner are served late afternoon and evening then it’s s’mores under the stars and off to bed to sleep to the music of the river flowing by.

Day two after packing up camp we’ll get back on the river! The release of water from Lake Abanakee comes downstream and we’ll be ready to run the Hudson River Gorge. One rapid after another along with a couple more intentional swimming opportunities until we pull over for a riverside lunch. The last three river miles are calm peaceful waters which make for a fun float out to North River where we take our boats off the river. Back at our river base we’ll enjoy the après river snack while we check out photos of our whitewater run.

Experience an overnight in the Hudson River Gorge with York State licensed guides from Square Eddy Expeditions.

Suggested personal gear: closed toe shoes for camp, one change of quick dry clothing, a wool sweater or fireproof jacket for evening. Bring your own beverages, adult and otherwise.

In camp we will provide lemonade and drinking water.
